Our History
We’ve been through quite a journey since launching in 1998 – adapting, evolving and building the foundations of the specialist lender we are today.
1998 — Launched as RFC Mortgage Services Limited, entering the market with a focus on specialist lending and real-world lending.
2000 — Acquired by GMAC and rebranded to GMAC-RFC Limited, later introducing GMAC Residential Funding, as the business expanded its reach and capability.
2002 — Became the UK’s 13th largest lender, reflecting rapid growth and increasing broker confidence.
2006 — Climbed to 10th largest lender in the UK, demonstrating scale, momentum and strong market presence.
2010 — Following the credit crunch, we realigned our focus to mortgage servicing under new ownership with Fortress Investment Group LLC, strengthening our foundations and adapting to a changing economic landscape.
2011 — Renamed to Paratus AMC Limited, continuing to evolve by learning from experience and building for the future.
2015 — Transitioned into lending and servicing as Foundation Home Loans, with a clearer structure, renewed purpose and a sharper focus on specialist cases.
2022 — Became part of the Apollo family, opening the next chapter in our story and supporting growth, investment and ambition.
2026 — Transitioned into Foundation, a clearer expression of who we are today. The same real-world lending, but built with stronger foundations and a stronger focus on making complex lending easier to navigate.
